I have been painting custom pet portraits for almost 20 years. I have a BA degree in art, and worked as a commercial artist for 17 years. My work has won awards from the Dog Writers Association of America and the Art Show at the Dog Show. I've exhibited at the AKC Museum of the Dog, and produced many pieces for breed clubs and specialty shows, including Irish Water Spaniels, Labrador Retrievers, Belgian Tervurens, Bearded Collies, Australian Terriers, and Golden Retrievers. My work has also appeared in magazines.
My clients recognize their own pet immediately in my paintings, and value that it is a painting of THEIR pet, not just anyone’s. This is the part I enjoy most about my art – making that personal connection with the person who commissioned the piece and knowing I have made something very special for them.
I have owned cats and dogs all of my life, and cared for hundreds more as a pet sitter. For the past 20 years I have also owned horses of several breeds. I learn every day as I sit and watch the animals around me in action and try to capture that in my art.
