I can't explain it, but I really like to paint Malamutes in pastel rather than pencil like I usually do. It might be the texture of their fur that speaks to me. I always look at the subject for awhile before I decide what medium to use for a particular painting. Pastel artists call their work "pastel paintings" rather than drawings.
